Through our rewilding and ecosystem restoration efforts, we help regenerate forests and create the conditions needed for wildlife to recover and return to their natural habitat. By restoring damaged environments and supporting rescued animals in their rehabilitation, we contribute to rebuilding resilient ecosystems and giving wildlife a second chance after devastating wildfires.

Sowing Life, Restoring the Future

In Bolivia, wildfires destroy thousands of hectares of forest every year. Yet even in the aftermath, new life can begin to grow.

At CIWY, we are leading a post-wildfire rewilding project in the Bolivian Amazon that goes far beyond planting trees. We are restoring entire ecosystems using native and fruit-bearing species that nourish not only the soil, but also the wildlife that depends on it. This is ecological restoration — rebuilding the health, function, and resilience of the ecosystems that sustain life.

But regeneration doesn’t end there.

A Second Chance for a Jaguar Cub

During the devastating wildfires of 2024, which burned over 12 million hectares in Bolivia (more than 11% of the country), a jaguar cub was found alone, dehydrated, yet still carrying her wild spirit.

Since then, she has grown at our Ambue Ari sanctuary without human contact, developing her natural hunting instincts and survival skills.

Now, she needs the right environment to prepare for a life of freedom. For this reason, we have built a 1-hectare (10,000 m²) enclosure designed to closely replicate her natural habitat — a space where she can continue to strengthen her abilities until she is ready to return to the forest.

This enclosure will also serve as a rewilding center for future wildfire survivors — not only jaguars, but all animals capable of returning to their natural home.
