This baby jaguar (name to come) was rescued from wildfire in 2024 and is set to become the first jaguar ever released into the wild in Bolivia!

Felines are usually very difficult to reintroduce into the wild, and in fact, a jaguar has never been released in Bolivia, largely due to complex bureaucratic processes and government permissions. We are excited to lead a ground-breaking collaborative development within Bolivia’s conservation community to make this happen. We believe the baby jaguar is a strong candidate for release, as we have avoided any direct human contact with her since her initial veterinary care. She has retained her survival instincts, successfully hunting live prey within her current enclosure.

The plan is to fully release and monitor her in the Noel Kempff Mercado National Park after her rehabilitation at Ambue Ari Sanctuary.
